✓ Your Privacy is Protected

5. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption and security practices. We use reputable cloud services with servers primarily located in Europe, ensuring GDPR compliance.
Local Data Storage: Some learning data (like flashcard progress) is stored locally on your device using secure, encrypted storage methods. This allows Tenkobo to work offline and provides faster access to your study materials.
We retain your personal data only as long as necessary to provide our services or as required by law.
Retention of Messages and Community Features Data
- Direct messages and study group messages: Retained for as long as the sending and receiving accounts exist, or until the message or conversation is deleted by the participants.
- Deleted messages: When you delete a message, it is removed from your view and the recipients' view promptly. Residual copies may persist in encrypted backups for up to 90 days before being overwritten.
- Reports and moderation records: Retained for up to 24 months after the action is taken (or longer where required by law, a legal hold, or an ongoing investigation) so we can detect repeat violations, respond to appeals, and comply with legal obligations.
- Blocks: Retained for as long as your account exists or until you unblock the user.
- Content reported as child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or credible threats: Retained and, where required, disclosed to the appropriate authorities in accordance with applicable law.
6. Account Deletion and Deletion Requests
You can request deletion of your account and personal data at any time. For detailed instructions on the deletion process, including what data is removed and what may be retained for legal compliance, visit our Account Deletion page.
What Happens to Your Messages When You Delete Your Account
- Messages you sent: Your account, profile, and your copies of conversations are removed. Copies of messages you sent that remain in other users' inboxes will be shown as from a deleted user and may remain visible to those recipients, as we cannot delete content from another user's account without their action.
- Study groups: Your membership and posts are anonymized or removed. Groups you owned will either be transferred to another admin or archived, depending on the group's state.
- Reports and moderation history: Retained for the period described in Section 5, even after account deletion, for safety and legal compliance reasons.
- Deletion timeline: Most account data is deleted within 30 days of your request. Backups are purged within 90 days.
You can also delete individual messages or leave a study group at any time from within the app — you do not need to delete your entire account to remove specific content.

- Erasure: Request deletion of your personal data
