Terms & Conditions

1. Overview

The Africa Schools Competition ("Competition") is a promotional campaign organized by Kronerland AS ("Organizer", "we", "us") through the Tenkobo mobile application. The Competition allows students and recent alumni to represent their schools and compete for a share of ₦1,600,000 (One Million Five Hundred and Fifty Thousand Nigerian Naira) or local currency equivalent.

The Competition features three prize pools:

• ₦1,000,000 — Main pool for all schools (universities, polytechnics, colleges, secondary schools)
• ₦300,000 — Dedicated pool for secondary schools only
• ₦300,000 — Campus Ambassador prizes for top 3 schools

By participating in the Competition, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions, Tenkobo's Terms of Service, and Privacy Policy.

2. Eligibility

2.1 Age Requirements

• You must be at least 16 years old to participate
• Participants aged 16-17 require verified parental or guardian consent
• Participants must be at least 18 years old to receive prize payouts directly
• Winners aged 16-17 will have prizes paid to their verified parent or guardian

2.2 Geographic Eligibility

For Season 1, the Competition is open to participants residing in or attending schools in:

• Nigeria — Prizes paid in Nigerian Naira (₦)
• Ghana — Prizes converted to Ghana Cedis (GH₵) at prevailing exchange rate
• Sierra Leone — Prizes converted to Leones (Le) at prevailing exchange rate

2.3 Student & Alumni Eligibility

You are eligible to represent a school if you are:

• Current Student: Currently enrolled at any recognized educational institution (university, polytechnic, college, secondary school)
• Recent Alumni: Graduated on or after January 1, 2021 from any recognized programme (SSCE, undergraduate, HND, postgraduate, MBA, PhD, or any other qualification)

2.4 Eligible Institutions

The following types of institutions can compete:

• Universities (public and private)
• Polytechnics
• Colleges of Education
• Nursing schools and other professional colleges
• Secondary schools (SS1, SS2, SS3)
• Any other recognized educational institution

3. Prize Structure

The Competition features two separate prize pools: a main pool for all schools and a dedicated pool for secondary schools only.

3.3 Currency & Exchange Rates

Prize amounts for Ghana and Sierra Leone will be converted from Nigerian Naira to local currency at the prevailing exchange rate at the time of payout. The table below shows approximate amounts based on current rates — actual amounts received may vary based on exchange rate fluctuations and bank transfer charges.

4. How Schools Are Ranked

4.1 School Points

A school's total score is the sum of all Arena points earned by students representing that school during the competition period.

4.2 Earning Points

Players earn Arena points by:

• Completing timed quiz games in Arena
• Answering questions correctly across 8 academic subjects
• Playing consistently throughout the competition period

4.3 Tiebreaker Rules

In the event of a tie between schools with identical total points:

1. The school with more active players wins
2. If still tied, the school with the higher average points per player wins
3. If still tied, prize money will be split equally between tied schools

5. Competition Period

Only Arena points earned during the competition period count toward the final rankings. Points earned before or after this period will not be included.

6. Winner Verification

All winners must verify their eligibility before receiving prizes. Verification may include:

6.1 Identity Verification

• Valid government-issued ID (National ID, Passport, Voter's Card, Driver's License)
• Proof of age
• Bank account details in your name (or parent/guardian's name for minors)

6.2 School Affiliation Verification

• Current Students: Valid student ID card, admission letter, or current enrollment proof
• Recent Alumni: Graduation certificate, transcript, degree certificate, or official letter from the institution

7. Prize Payout

7.1 Payment Method

Prizes will be paid via bank transfer or mobile money to verified Nigerian, Ghanaian, or Sierra Leonean accounts. Winners must provide:

For Bank Transfer:

• Full bank account name (must match verified identity)
• Bank name
• Account number

For Mobile Money:

• Mobile money provider (e.g., OPay, MTN MoMo, Airtel Money, Orange Money, PalmPay, etc.)
• Registered phone number
• Account holder name (must match verified identity)

For Minors (under 18):

• Parent/guardian's bank account or mobile money details
• Parent/guardian's verified identity

7.2 Taxes

Prizes may be subject to applicable withholding taxes as required by local law. Where withholding is legally required, the applicable tax amount will be deducted before payment. Winners are responsible for any additional taxes applicable to their prize winnings in their jurisdiction. We recommend consulting a tax professional regarding your obligations.

7.3 Processing Time

Prize payments will be processed within 14 days of successful verification. Processing times may vary depending on banking systems and verification complexity.

8. Fair Play & Disqualification

8.1 Prohibited Conduct

The following activities are strictly prohibited and will result in disqualification:

• Using multiple accounts to gain unfair advantage
• Using automated tools, bots, or scripts to play
• Sharing account credentials with others
• Joining a school you have no legitimate affiliation with
• Providing false information about your student/alumni status
• Colluding with other players to manipulate rankings
• Exploiting bugs or vulnerabilities in the app
• Any other form of cheating or manipulation

8.2 Consequences of Violation

Players found violating these rules may face:

• Immediate disqualification from the competition
• Removal of all earned points
• Permanent ban from future competitions
• Account suspension or termination
• Forfeiture of any prizes

Kronerland AS reserves the right to investigate suspicious activity and make final determinations regarding disqualification at its sole discretion.

9. General Provisions

9.1 Modification of Terms

Kronerland AS reserves the right to modify these Terms & Conditions at any time. Material changes will be communicated through the app and/or email at least 7 days before taking effect.

9.2 Cancellation or Modification

We reserve the right to cancel, suspend, or modify the Competition if fraud, technical issues, or other factors beyond our control compromise its integrity. In such cases, we will determine prize allocation at our discretion.

9.3 Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Kronerland AS shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from participation in this Competition, including but not limited to technical failures, unauthorized access, or errors in prize distribution.

9.4 Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by Norwegian law. For participants in Nigeria, Ghana, and Sierra Leone, nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights under local consumer protection laws.

9.5 One-Time Campaign

As currently planned, this is a one-time launch campaign to celebrate Arena's expansion in West Africa. It is not a recurring prize and does not create an obligation for future competitions with similar prize structures. Note: Arena seasons run every 6 months (December to May, and June to November).

However, if we see sufficient interest from participants or secure sponsorships, we may continue the prize-money competition in future seasons. In such cases, prize amounts may vary significantly from season to season based on available funding — ranging from ₦0 (no prize pool) in seasons without sufficient funding, to as high as ₦100,000,000 or its USD/GH₵ equivalent when sponsorship or resources allow. Kronerland AS makes no commitment to any specific prize amount for future seasons.

9.6 Right to Modify Competition

Kronerland AS reserves the right to make changes to the Competition structure, rules, prize distribution, eligibility criteria, or any other aspect of the Competition at any time, in order to improve the fairness, integrity, or performance of the Competition. Such changes may be made without prior notice, although we will endeavor to communicate significant changes through the app or email where reasonably practicable.

10. Legal Disclaimers

10.1 No Guarantee of Prizes

Participation in the Competition does not guarantee any prize. Winners are determined solely based on the criteria set forth in these Terms. Kronerland AS makes no representations or warranties regarding the likelihood of winning.

10.2 Assumption of Risk

By participating in the Competition, you acknowledge and accept any risks associated with participation, including but not limited to the risk of not receiving a prize, technical issues affecting your score or ranking, and delays in prize distribution.

10.3 Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Kronerland AS, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, and partners from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or relating to your participation in the Competition, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.

10.4 Force Majeure

Kronerland AS shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing its obligations under these Terms where such failure or delay results from circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, natural disasters, war, terrorism, civil unrest, government actions, pandemic, internet or telecommunications failures, power outages, or any other event that could not have been reasonably foreseen or prevented.

10.5 Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. The invalid provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable while preserving the original intent.

10.6 Entire Agreement

These Terms & Conditions, together with the Tenkobo Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Kronerland AS regarding the Competition and supersede all prior or contemporaneous understandings, agreements, representations, and warranties.

10.7 Waiver

The failure of Kronerland AS to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision. Any waiver of any provision of these Terms will be effective only if in writing and signed by Kronerland AS.

10.8 No Partnership or Agency

Nothing in these Terms shall be construed to create a partnership, joint venture, employment, or agency relationship between you and Kronerland AS. You have no authority to bind Kronerland AS in any manner whatsoever.
